A few days ago, Thomson Reuters released the 2016 Journal Citation Reports® (JCR), the most influential source for evaluating journal metrics and the impact of research. Much has been debated about the impact factors: some academics seem to think that the impact factor is absolutely essential, while some others believe that it should be done away with; a third group of people believes that the impact factor can be used along with some other evaluation metrics.
