This is a very interesting question! And your situation is definitely strange. First, is the reply published in the same journal to which you submitted your Letter to the Editor? Is it possible that someone else submitted a similar Letter to the Editor that got published before yours? Usually when publishing a reply to a Letter to the Editor, the journal would provide a link or reference to the original Letter to the Editor. In the absence of this, it would definitely be confusing to the readers. I would suggest that you write to the journal editor and request a clarification. Let me know how it goes!
